KEC Power India Pvt. Ltd (KPIPL) KPIPL is a strategic alliance between KEC International Ltd. and POWER Engineers, Inc, USA. This jointly owned company undertakes the complete design of substations, both in the domestic and international arenas, including projects in the USA. KPIPL is staffed to provide detailed design engineering for complete green field substations or upgrades to existing substations. Combined with the experience of the large engineering staffs of KEC International Ltd. and POWER Engineers, KPIPL offers detailed substation design engineering for facilities of all voltage levels through 500 kV. Current projects by KPIPL include the following

220 kV and 132 kV Substation Expansion Project - of MSECTL project at Nagpur, Aurangabad and Amravati Zone.

KPIPL's scope includes design for 132 kV and 220 kV additional line bays at an existing substations of MSECTL.

Civil Design engineering included preparation of
  • Design calculation for substation equipment structure and foundation
  • Preparation of structural and foundation drawing for all substation equipment, and Cable trenches.
Electrical Design engineering included preparation of
  • Preparation of the single line diagram, physical layout, Earthing layout, lightning protection layout, cable trench layout, cable schedules and Bill of Material.
  • Drawing review for current transformer, voltage transformer, Lightning arrestor, circuit breaker, Disconnector, control and protection schematics.

61/34.5 kV New Substation Project - Ghana.

KPIPL's scope includes design for one new 161/34.5 kV substation and addition of equipment in existing 161/34.5 kV Substation

Civil Design engineering included preparation of
  • Design calculation for substation equipment structure and foundation
  • Preparation of structural and foundation drawing for all substation equipment, Cable trenches and Control building.
Electrical Design engineering included preparation of
  • Design calculation for Current transformer, Voltage transformer, Earthing (or grounding) system, lighting system, lightning protection, Auxiliary AC and DC system.
  • Preparation of the single line diagram, physical layout, Earthing layout, Lightning protection layout, cable trench layout, cable schedules, SCADA and RTU signal list and interconnection diagram.
  • Drawing review for current transformer, voltage transformer, Lightning arrestor, Circuit breaker, Disconnector, Control and Protection schematics. SCADA ,RTU, Communication system and the DC and AC distribution system.

66/11 kV New Substation Project - Kenya. (Substation at Komorock, Ruia and Kiambu)

KPIPL's scope included design for three number new 66/11 kV substation.

  • Design calculation for substation equipment structure and foundation
  • Preparation of structural and foundation drawing for all substation equipment, Cable trenches and Control building.
Electrical Design engineering included preparation of

138 kV Nicaragua Substation Project – Central America (Substation at Nicaragua)

KPIPL's scope included design for expansion in 138 kV substation with ring bus. One number 138 kV line and two numbers of 38MVA ,138/13.8 kV Transformers are added in existing Power plant substation.

Electrical Design engineering included
  • Preparation of Specification of 138 kV circuit breaker,138 kV Motorized Disconnector switch,138 kV Lightning Arrester, 138 kV CMU units for metering, Control Protection Panel and 138/13.8 kV Power Transformer.
  • Preparation of design calculation for Current Transformer, Coupling Voltage Transformer DC and AC loading calculation, Bus Span length calculation.
  • Preparation of the single line diagram, physical layout, Earthing layout, Lightning protection layout, cable trench and conduit layout, control & protection Block logic diagram, cable schedules, SCADA and RTU signal list and interconnection diagram.
  • Drawing and offer review of all electrical equipment ordered for the substation.
