For the financial year 2008-09, the company reported revenues of Rs. 3427.39 crore as against Rs. 2814.48 crore in the previous year. Net profit for the year stands at Rs. 116.29 crore versus last year’s figure of Rs. 172.16 crore.

The (un-audited) Q4 FY09 revenues were Rs. 1134.58 crore versus Rs. 1031.03 crore during the corresponding period last year. Net profit for the fourth quarter stands at Rs. 73.26 crore versus last year’s figure for the corresponding period of Rs. 90.79 crore.

The company’s well-diversified order book stands at a healthy Rs. 5163 crore as on March 31, 2009 as against Rs. 4177 crore as on March 31, 2008.

In the Transmission space, in the international market, the company entered three new geographies: Mali, Tajikistan and Australia. It also won a historically large contract from Egypt at Rs. 636 crore. In the domestic market, the company bagged PGCIL orders worth Rs. 1600 crore of which orders worth Rs. 1100 crore were received in the last quarter of the financial year.

The company achieved major success in the Distribution business and won orders worth Rs. 890 crore, a substantial portion of which was under Rajeev Gandhi Grameen Vidyootikaran Yojana(RGGVY) besides substation packages in Tajikistan and Jammu & Kashmir.

In the Telecom segment, the company achieved significant growth in the revenues. It has also completed 354 tower sites under the (Universal Service Obligation Fund) USOF for which the billing to the customers has started.
