Mumbai, March 30, 2009:KEC International Ltd. (KEC), a global leader in the power transmission EPC business and an RPG group company , has bagged two orders totaling to Rs. 207 crore ---- Rs. 166 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) & Rs. 41 crore from CESC Limited, another RPG group company.
The PGCIL order is for the Supply & Construction of for Tower Package – A8 for Gomti River – Nidhaura Village portion of +/- 800 kV HVDC Bipole Biswanath Chariyali- Agra Transmission Line associated with North East – Northern / Western Interconnector-I Project. The line is to be constructed in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The total length of line is ¬¬¬192.5 Kms. and the project is scheduled to be completed by December 2011. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank. This is the first time that a +/-800 kV HVDC line is being constructed in India and the same is being undertaken by KEC.
The CESC order is for the Construction of for 220 kV M/C portion of Overhead Transmission Line from AP TW 2/0 to Kasba (Nonadanga S/S) under Budge Budge Unit III Evacuation Project. The line is to be constructed in the state of West Bengal. The total length of line is 15 Kms. and the project is scheduled to be completed by June 2009.
