Mumbai, September 8 : KEC International Ltd. (KEC), a global leader in the power transmission EPC business, has bagged two orders worth Rs. 120 crore from NTPC Electric Supply Company Ltd. (NESCL) and Rs. 97 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
The first order which is a Turnkey Rural Electrification project in the district of Keonjhar of Orissa state, covers electrification of 2195 villages, providing electricity connections to approx. 1.85 lacs below poverty line families and also construction of eight 33/11 kV new/augmentation substations. The project is scheduled to be completed by March 2010. This is the 1st order received in the state of Orissa by KEC from NESCL.
The second order is a Turnkey 765 kV Single Circuit Balia–Lucknow Transmission Line and is associated with DVC & Maithon Right bank under PGCIL’s common scheme for 756 kV pooling stations and network for its northern and Western region . The line is to be constructed in the state of Uttar Pradesh and the job involves supply of towers, line materials, erection and commissioning. The total length of line is 158Kms and the project is scheduled to be completed by June 2010.
“Both these projects are very important to KEC. The NESCL contract is our second largest rural electrification project win in recent times, the largest being the Rs. 160 crore rural electrification project under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) also from NESCL which we won in June 2008.
