Mumbai, October 31, 2014: KEC International, an RPG Enterprises group company has appointed Ambassador Nirupama Rao (Retd.) as an Additional and Non-Executive Director w.e.f. October 31st, 2014.
A career diplomat with exemplary track record, Mrs. Nirupama Rao was the first woman spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, India’s first woman Ambassador to China in 2006 and an Ambassador of India to the USA . She also served as the Foreign Secretary of India for a period of two years from August 2009 to July 2011.
Mrs. Nirupama Rao has done her BA (English) Honors from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore and obtained her Masters degree in English Literature from Marathwada University, Maharashtra. She topped the All India Civil Services Examination in 1973 and joined the Indian Foreign Service.

One of the most influential diplomats in recent times, Mrs. Rao on the completion of her tenure as Ambassador of India to the United States in November 2013, joined Ivy League’s Brown University as a Fellow in residence at the University during 2014 engaged in research and writing on select foreign policy. She has written a book of poetry, named Rain Rising.
